I took a trip to the Netherlands to visit Jos & Teunie, a lovely couple who became my adopted Opa & Oma when I lived in the Netherlands as a child. Below are some photos and some explainations of what they are:

When we lived in the Netherlands, we lived on Jan Carstenszweg, at the time there were multiple blocks of flats. The only remaining block is the one in the distance. Below are photos from the drive down the street:

Further down the street, towards the end, there is a huge wood. I would regularly walk the dogs and play in the woods. This is the route I would take to enter the woods with the dogs. Across the car park and into the woods. What was quite interesting was that there was a grazing area in the wood for cattle.

A new addition to the area was the return road on the opposite side of the flats. The area in the photo below previously had a block of flats on it and the area to the left did not have housing, it had more grassland.

Of course, the trip wouldn't be complete without visiting my old primary school. In the first photo below, it's possible to see the playground. In the bottom left lower area, we used to play football and in parts of the upper playground, there were marbles contests.

Here we can see the entrance to the school, which often I cycled into having cycled from home alone as was the custom in the Netherlands at the time, even for primary school students. The building with the green wall was actually one of the classrooms I was taught in too.

My other time on the trip was spent looking around Geldrop and Eindhoven. Below are photos of the Cathedral in Geldrop and some photos around Eindhoven. Towards the end there are some photos of the Manor house in Eindhoven - effectively, where the lord or mayor would have lived.
