For my birthday this year, I spent some time with my parents. This might not seem like much to other people, but to me this is time that I cherish and really enjoyed. We met for breakfast at Plush Cafe, where I had the pancakes and a Lavander Latte. Images below.
Following a spot of breakfast, we caught the train to Leeds and went to the Royal Armouries because I wanted to visit the Re:Loaded exhibition which features various guns from private collections. The idea behind the exhibition is to show how guns are used to influence and as luxury collectables. In one instance, a weapon was sent to the UK defence secretary from a middle eastern country looking to win favour and contracts. In another, golden AK-47s were gifted by Saddam Hussein to people he sought to influence, in addition to golden pistols given to Police Officers in UAE - which really puts into perspective just how little money circulates around poorer places. It would be hard to imagine, for example, Humberside Police, being given golden tasers to keep the peace.
Some images from the exhibit, and the royal armouries are below:
After visiting the Royal Armouries, we travelled back to York for some food and then, to my favourite pub for some drinks and games. A fantastic birthday overall. Here's to the year ahead!
