Earlier this year I entered the Big Idea competition with Parentull, an idea for a parenting app stemming from my own experiences with the UK social service and family court system.
I think that software can fundamentally change the present systems and reduce workloads for many agencies which safeguard children. These outdated and under-funded system often rely on physical paper forms and hearsay instead of real data and evidence; the clear problem there is that informaiton can be incorrectly recorded and used to pass judgement in a court of law wheras if computer aided data can be presented and experts can validate such evidence, the arguments become much more clear.
Of course, changing the system is beyond the scope of Parentull at the moment. It's just a simple parenting app idea - which I'm glad to say is a finalist in the Big Idea's Social Change category! Eek!
